doing: just woke up and i wanted to blog a bit
listening to: matthew's snores and the oddly loud hum of my computer.
feeling: a bit sick still, but much better
today is saturday and i got to SLEEP IN! okay okay, its only 8:30 so its not really considered sleeping in in most peoples eyes. but to me its like a dream! yeserday was matthew and my's FIVE year anniversary! crazy right?! so his parents kept ethan over night so we could go out and celebrate!
backtrack. this week has been so long! first ethan was sick with a fever and a runny nose. he got over that on wednesday and then matt got sick. he stayed home for 2 days from work, went to the doctor on thursday and found out he had a deep sinus infection. fun. then it was my turn, i woke up wednesday night and was so cold i was shivering! i made it to work for about 2.5 hours and then i had to go back home! friday i went to the doctor because my throat had started to hurt so bad! i thought i had strep, but it ended up being just a virus. so i stayed home friday and tried desperatley to feel better so we could go out!
we went out to eat at Biaggis, our favorite place to go and celebrate, and it was fabulous!! as it always is! i had wanted to go wine tasting at the new Jasper Winery location in Des Moines, but since we both didn't feel all that great we decided dinner was enough for one night. we did, however, go and walk through Old Navy and BB&Beyond. we bought ourselves a new set of wooden spoons for presents!
in the "contemorary" wedding gift list, for 5 years you are supposed to buy wood as a present. hence the wooden spoons.
after the shopping we came back home and watched some tv. i popped some tylenol PM and i was out! we're totally romantic in know, but what can ya do!?
this week has given me a couple new things to think about. my little brother, greg, has been dating ashley flattery for quite awhile now. i think they'd said it'd be five years soon. ashley's been in equador for the summer for her study abroad program and she just recently called and broke it off with greg. he's been pretty heartbroken and i feel awful for him! but, i'm hoping that he'll be able to live up the college life a little more now, they both will i think, because they won't have someone else to worry about. and, if its meant to be then they'll find each other again down the line. this got me thinking a bit about matt and i. we are high school sweet hearts, we've been together since our sophmore year! not to make anyone feel old but that was like 10 years ago! how we managed to make it work out i'll never know! but we did, and now we've celebrated our five years of being married! i plan on celebrating many many more and i couldn't be happier! i guess it just takes some people longer to find the one that they are meant to be with, and some people get lucky and find that someone back in high school-when they aren't even thinking long term!
now to switch over totally, we had another open house on thrusday night! betty and mike cunningham are our realtors and they are great! betty said that there were a bunch of people that came through!!! we even had one guy come through and then came back through AGAIN last night! thats a good sign!!! theres also a crazy lady that has been through and told us she was interested and also another couple that had been interested before. three people!!?? sweett!! we've done the price reduction thing, which we really didn't want to, but we want to sell more than anything! now we are just crossing our fingers that someone will put an offer down! crazy lady said that she'd want us out within two months. NO PROBLEM! talk about a whirl wind of excitement and stress! but i'd be happy happy happy to do it!!
its time for me to start my morning with waffles! they sound so good! buscits sound good too, but i dont have the right stuff for those. waffles it is! oh and bacon!!! mmm!!! :)

Happy anniversary :) Sounds like you are sort of celebrating... hehehe I know what you mean though, you don't always have to make a huge deal of something to appreciate what you have. And I didn't know you and Matt did the traditional gift thing! My neighbor (who's celebrating her 5th anniversary this month) was talking about maybe getting a firepit because that sort of has something to do with wood ;) Spoons are a good idea too hehehe
Good luck with the house selling! Maybe it really will happen soon and you can get started with your new plan :) Let me know how it turns out!
