How were blogs such a fad for so long and now nobody does them anymore?
I really think I would write in an actual journal, but sometimes I just really hate to write with a pen and paper. Plus I type much faster!
So this is my outlet, still-it always has been-things I can think and say and just have either to myself or to anyone of you who decides to read it. I'm going to hopefully start writing a little more and I'm about to let you know why.
My professional life in a short summary,...
I went to college for Photography and what started as a love turned into a full fledged passion!
I got a job in Pella for someone I would do absolutley anything for! We grew a good business for 8 years together.
Things happened, sh^t hit fans.... I played the best game of beer pong in my life that night!
I got a new job in Knoxville for a couple who WANTED me, sought me out to work for them!
I worked hard to grow their business while still being able to do what I loved!
More sh^t hit more fans.....I cried a lot and my husband said some things that put my life back on track.
And now its November 11th, 2014,
Now I am currently in between "gigs" as it were. I'm working somewhere that I truly enjoy and getting a few more weekends with my boys!
But I miss it. I miss my creative outlets that my profession provides me. I am in ""TRUE LOVE"" with photography and hate having to live without it for so long.
I want/need a place for my creativeness to be seen and heard and enjoyed! And I'm hoping this can be that place.
I follow newborn photographers, senior photographers, wedding photographers, prop shops and photoshop action shops all on facebook. I get jealous of them every day that they have an adorable newborn to pose and try new ideas on. Of the senior and wedding photographers who have a new face to look through their lens at, a new attitude, a new wink or smile or silly face! And all of those prop shops? Lets just remind everyone that I love to shop and I love my newborn props! (possibly why my husband won't let me have my own credit card....)
While I can't take a client in and try new poses and see new faces, I think I can still get some creativeness going with images I already have (hece: You'll see E's face, ALOT)
Or just a landscape or an art piece.
I hope you will enjoy some of my work, maybe it'll make your day better, and it will help me to know that I can still share my passion in some form with the world!

"" i guess nothing could last forever... ""
man alive.
what a week.
i don't like to throw pity parties for myself but if i did i'd sure be throwing one today!
ever have one of those days or weeks where its just like everything is on you at once? and people just keep picking at you and you just keep getting grouchier about it all?
thats me.
i'm trying really hard to try to be more positive and to do things that help with stress... really i am. but its just not working. not this week.
so here's to, hopefully, getting a green beer tonight. to tomorrow being Friday. and to a better weekend than the last.

"" I leave it up to Jane Fonda.... ""
doing: moving and deleting files on our computers and drives. organization!!!
feeling: good, sore and tired.
i'm excited that i've finally gotten into the swing of this working out business! this week i've been to the rec center 3 times and worked out at home once. okay, on Sunday i went and did Zumba with 2 of my friends and it literally killed me! i was SO sore on Monday that i hardly moved from the couch... and when i did i walked like an old woman because my legs hurt so very terribly badly! however, Zumba was awesome!! i'm hoping to go again on Sunday! and also hoping that i won't fall apart as bad this time!
aside from that, i've gone to swim and this morning went to do the elliptical! i feel like i have some more energy, even though i'm sleepy today. and i just feel all over better! the last few weeks have been yucky, both outside and with being sick and being gone. its been a whirlwind! but now i feel like i'm trying to get back on track!
i'm trying really hard to make exercise part of my daily routine as well as starting to eat a little better.
i don't really have a set goal. i dont really need to loose weight or anything, i just want to be in shape again! i guess i would like my abs back! haha! that pry wont ever happen... but i can work on it and see!

"" (the Harry Potter theme song) ""
doing: Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family!! woot woot!
feeling: okay. tired and a little stressed though.
today is the 5th day of Decemeber. i feel like last December was ages ago, but that i've just missed the entire months of August-November.
its an understatement to say that we've been busy at work. we've been maddeningly busy. Jeff and i have almost killed each other a couple times... but we are making it through. we are both excited for the actual "slow time".
as for my other job - youth ministry coordinator at the church. this second year of me being YMC is going much smoother. i think that those first year kinks are loosening. my team and i are communicating better and we are all just happy that we've made it this far! my adult team has been nothing short of amazing. they are always ready to lend a hand or let me bounce an idea off of them. and mostly they are great with the kids. the kids also have been amazing. they all have been and continue to be very supportive of me and the roll i've taken in the church. while there is still some stress, as goes with every job, i feel like there is about 70% less than there was at this time last year!
all that said, i feel like this year has sucked - to put it nicely. i'm ready to say goodbye to 2010. however much we try to make it differently, the bad things always seem to overshadow the good ones. and 2010 has left me with a bretty bad taste in my mouth.
i'm actually welcoming December this year. usually i dread it, only because of the weather. but this year the month seems to be filled with places and activities that i am looking quite forward to!
one of those activities is Ethans very first Christmas Program! we have been so impressed with him starting pre-school this year. he loves school! and i love it when he loves something this much! he has been practicing at school the songs they will be singing, and so has been singing them at home as well! i'm also always impressed with him with the things he remembers! and he remembers all his songs!
the other thing i always am happy about this time of year is my family. not only Matt and Ethan, but my extended family too. i'm lucky enough to have amazing extended family on both sides (yes i love my in-laws!), and to add one more level my friends are just as great! with all of that, i consider myself one of the luckiest girls around!

"" just like a tattoo, i'll always have you ""
doing: getting caught up on my shows. right now, The Gates.
feeling: sore but really good!
as you all know i've been pining over my tattoo for months now. and last night was THE night! i was nervous and scared and excited.
Ben came with, he got his first tattoo on his wrist. his name in binary code - which is a combination of 1's and 0's. and while it sounds a little on the nerdy side, if you know Ben you know that it fits him just right! it looks really cool and i think he's really happy with it!
then it was my turn! it took about 3 hours to do what i have done. we didn't leave the tattoo shop until about 10:30. the only reason i didn't want to finish was because i was getting antsy..... and, well, it hurt! now i didn't go into this thinking a rib tattoo wouldn't hurt.. but i don't think i was quite prepared. it hurts. just let me tell you, unless you are really truly set on a rib tattoo then don't do it!! haha! i'm 100% set on mine, otherwise i'd have made him quit after the outline was done!!
either way, i loved it even when he only had the outline done! i'm just in love with this tattoo! it makes it even better that i designed it myself and that it truly means something to me personally! so the coloring and the bottom part of the cross is all done, in about 3 weeks i'll go back and get the rest finished.

"" save me i'm lost... oh Lord i've been waiting for you""
good morning!
of all the days of the week, Ethan chooses this one to sleep in! hes out! but thats okay, he needs about a days worth of sleep to catch himself up! hes been grouchy for days and its tiring!
today is Saturday! its 74degrees in my house and i have NOTHING to do today! (until later, we have a short wedding here in Knoxville). i made myself a list of errands i will need to run and i should probably do laundry. but other that that the day is wide open! it makes me so happy!
this week was crazy busy. i was tired. and we are behind at work. not bad, but just enough to make us both a little crazy. our Senior appointments are slowing down now because school has started. thats good because it lets Jeff actually be in the office to do some stuff. i got totally caught up on my editing on Thursday and then the rest of Thursday and Friday i worked like mad to get a better handle on my orders. i sent a huge order to the lab yesterday and i actually feel pretty good about where i'm at now. i brought a bunch home to retouch this weekend so that'll help too.
about this time of year we are praying just a tiny bit for that slow time in January! but.... we dont like snow... so it only lasts for a tiny bit!
i've been trying to think of family picture ideas for this year. we usually do a family picture around Ethan's birthday(October) just because it seems easier. i want to do a Hawkeyes picture this year! i actually wanted to do it out by the corn - how Iowa is that?! but its starting to look like we wont be able to get our act together until the corn is starting to be harvested. we'll see i guess.
this coming Tuesday is our first taste of Preschool. Ethan's class - Thrilling Three's - is meeting Tuesday night for a "meet the teacher/class" night. Ethan's so very excited to go to school! the biggest thing i'm worried about with him is his listening and sharing. he shares fairly well with other kids.... unless hes tired or basically just doesn't want to. and his listening skills are to be desired, as i'm sure is true with all 3 year olds. i think he listens better to other adults than he does to me though... so we might be okay.
anyways,. we got him a backpack last week and today we will go and get him some new tennis shoes! i'm needing to purge his closet again and then hit up Plush Pony or find some good Children's Place sales to get him some new clothes. i've just hung on to most of his t-shirts because its summer and he just gets them dirty and sweaty. no need to have perfectly fitting ones for that!
other than that we are pretty low key here. matt took on yet another roofing job. hes not too thrilled about it, but Adam asked him to and that's what friends do! he was up at... well after his alarm - at 6:40 this morning. they are just down the street from here so at least we can go over and check up on them today. maybe i'll be nice and make them lemonade or something! :) as for our house, Matt said our roofing guy called him and we were supposed to get supplies delivered sometime soon. so that means our house is on the "soon" list now! we're really hoping by the midding of September its all done. not that i'm in a huge hurry, because we aren't paying for it, but itd just be nice to get it all done so we can do the Open House thing again.
its almost 8 now and my kid is still passed out. i suppose laundry is next on my list! have a good one!

"" i've got friends in LLOOWW places ""
this week has been long in every sense of the word. we are up to our eyeballs at work... "just keep swimming, just keep swimming" seems to be playing over and over in my head! i wish we could just shut off the phones and close the doors and WORK for a whole day straight. unfortunately we can't, so i'm dealing.
to start out my every morning this week i've had a super grouchy and uncooperative son. he's been staying up late at night on his own accord, and not actually falling asleep until 10 or 10:30. nothing i say or do makes him just lay down and sleep. so then morning comes around and he just dicks around and can't do one simple thing that i ask of him. of course once we get to Grandma Russell's or Shirley's house he's all lovey on me.... so usually my annoyance melts.
i also found out today that he hasn't taken much of a nap at Shirley's the last 2 days OR eaten much of anything for lunch! so basically my kid seems to think he can go without sleep and food.... *sigh*
i hope this phase fades FAST!
on a totally different note, our friend Mike is back home for awhile! he's been overseas for the last year so its always great when he comes home!! we've all been looking forward to it for months and now that he's here he just falls into our normal routine. we usually plan a party or outing while hes here, but this time i think we'll be a little more low key.
it really hit me this time when he gave me a big hug, picked me up, put me down and said, "have you gained weight Tray?" to which i punched him.
since this sounds a little meaner that it was, let me explain. when i started dating Matt i got him and 3 new friends. these friends were all boys and all treated my like a little sister. and even when i wished they'd just go away, i always knew they'd be in my life for the long haul!
now that i'm still very close with all of them, and have even added some more to that group, i'm happy that i have such good friends to rely on.
backtrack: i realized how lucky i am to have such an amazing group of friends. ones that i know will be there for me, Matt and Ethan no matter what we need. and are happy enough to just sit and drink a beer, or have dinner together, or play bags in the driveway until its too dark to see. and on top of it all i know that they are all supportive and happy for us and how our lives are at this moment!
"" True Friends are the ones that are there for you and know when you need them, even in their sleep, they will wake up and be there for you no matter what... ""
so to all of our friends that live close, live far away, and that we only see once in a great while... THANK YOU for being you!

"" show me what its like, to dream in black and white...""
doing: in between laundry loads
feeling: a little tired but doing okay
this morning i got up and went to swim. out of all the exercising i can do, the only thing that makes me feel like i'm actually getting anything out of it is swimming. so i found out a way and got a pass to the rec. now i just need to make myself get in the habit of it! i'm planning to go 3 times a week. hopefully someday i can go every day though! that would be great!
i love swimming because everything is tuned out. although i do wish i could get some music going, its nice to just tune completely out! i'm only left with my thoughts, and when i'm in the water i have an easier time shutting those down too. you don't hear anyone around you so its less distracting.
i love that first 50-75 yards (for me right now thats about as far as i can get!), when it just feels like you are flying through the water. nothings choppy, my muscles arent tired yet, and i feel like i could go forever! of course i cant... i get to 100 yards and my muscles are on fire! oohh how i wish i was still in shape like i was in high school! where's Post and his crazy workouts when i need him!?
so, we're still trying to sell our house. and we've now buried a statue of St. Joseph in our front yard, facing our house, under our "for sale" sign. i've gotten numerous snickers from people when i told them i was going to do this. mostly it was followed by the comment, "isn't that superstition?" to which i reply, "no, its faith!" we've been trying to sell for 2 years so any little bit will help! and i'm sure St. Joseph is thrilled about being buried in peoples yards upsidedown... so he MIGHT just take an extra look at our house now! :)
last night my Mom came over and helped me weed my flowers in the front yard. yes, they get overgrown.... and yes i dont realize it until its too late, and yes i dont go out as much as i should. but we cleared them all out! it actually looks a little bare! hehe! and Matt and i talked and we have a new plan for the front. re-planting some flowers, re-doing our rock area. hopefully it will cut down on weeds and make the front look a little nicer. Mom says before she leaves, "just make a big plan to move and re-do stuff and the house will sell!"
as for the rest of the days plans. Ethan will be spending the day at the Russell's house with his cousins and i will be sorting through my last weeks worth of notes and books! i also have to sit down and make some lists of what i want to do this year, what i have to do this year, and who i need to talk to about all of this! i sorta wish it wasn't August already... i feel like i always need more time to plan these church things! of course,... i've had all summer to get the start of the year planned... but it just goes by too darn quickly!
now, another load of laundry and getting my kiddo to clean up some toys!

he gives me the best smiles when hes 1-dirty or 2-holding something odd in front of him!

hes too funny when he sleeps! i thought having my suitcase still on the bed would deter him from going in there... apparently not.

yesterday was the longest day of the conference. we still got some good information and had some good discussion. but they could see that we were all burnt out! so it was a slower day with not too much going on. the conference ended at 3:00 and sadly, i had to get in my taxi by 3:15. so i had to say quick goodbyes and rush out. that was sort of okay because i started to get teary! i made some good friends, i know i keep saying that, but i really did! we all just connected on both a spititual level and a "were all going through the same thing" level.
its funny because the 2 girls i spent the most time with were from Mississippi so now my inner monolog has a sounther accent! i also spent time talking with Father Dan who came over from England. so that british accent keeps coming up too! Father Dan is a hoot too! hes so quick and witty, we laughed at him SO much!
after saying my goodbyes i hopped in the taxi. luckily i had another lady, Virginia, that had a flight shortly after mine. so we rode together. the 12 mile trip to the airport takes about 45 minutes..... and thats one big fat reason i dont want to live in a big city anymore! once i got there getting through security was quick and easy and i just had about 20 minutes to wait to get onto my flight. the flight home was cool because we flew most of the way up above the clouds! they just surrounded us and it was so awesome! i had turned my phone totally off, otherwise i'd have a sweet picture to show you. :(
i got back into Des Monies about 7:00. Matt and Ethan were there to greet me! after stopping off to grab me some dinner we headed back to home sweet home! it was so nice to sleep in my own bed! however, i don't miss having to share a bed with someone!!
Matt got up early to go help Bri Guy's mom roof her garage. they didnt do much of anything yesterday because of the "chance of rain". which sucked because yesterday would have been a perfect day for it! hopefully they'll get a good chunk done today!
other good news is that we have 2 showings of our house within a week! i got a call that someone wanted to come and look at it Friday morning, and then another that someone will come Monday afternoon! yeay!! Lexie(one of the southern girls) told me that if you bury, upsidedown, a statue of St. Joseph in your backyard its supposed to help you sell your house..... ssooo i need to find myself a St. Joseph statue!
Ethan and i are going to take a walk to see how the roofing is going!
have a great Saturday!

"" she thinks my tractors sexy...."
ugh country music!! JEFF!!! he's got a country station playing and i feel like i only hear the same 5 songs over and over!
well, i got a new hair cut last night! i'm literally 4 weeks past my "normal time" to get it cut! so my hairs been going crazy and i LLOOVVEE it! she didn't do much to it, usually she does tons of layers and choppy. but i wanted it a little longer and a little less layers. and curls! i know i know, "you don't want curly hair" but i DO i DO! i have always wanted naturally curly hair! i know that if i did have it, i'd hate it. but i do like the curl!
anyhow, Jess did great and showed me how to curl and style my hair and i just love it! i have to go buy myself a curling iron, but i'm going to master my messy curl!

last night when i got home Matt took me out on a date! Ethan was his the Russell's at the ICubs(double header) so we had a night to ourselves! we went to..... Hardees for dinner. not very romantic but it was good! then we met Ann and Adam at the theater and went to see Inception! i wanted to see it as soon as i saw the first preview. the idea looked interesting and, lets face it, you can't go wrong with Leo DiCaprio! later i found out that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was also in it and he's one of my favorite actors!

Ben had told us that it was awesome! people had said it was mind blowing. and it did not disappoint! i have to say it was the most stressful movie i've sat through in a long time! a good stress.. .but still, i think Matt might have a bruised arm or hand because i kept hitting him!
the movie its self was brilliantly written. it blows my mind how people can come up with such a solid story based on something that's completely unnatural! the basis is that these people go into dreams to steal secrets. i can't say much because it ruins the plot. but they explain everything pretty well so you aren't totally lost.
Leo is the head honcho of the mission and i just think he's a wonderful actor. he has so many levels that anything you put him in he's brilliant at! also, hes yummy to look at! ;) JGL (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), i've loved him since 3rd Rock from the Sun, and as he gets older and older rolls in movies he seems to never miss! i'm totally smitten with him, and i'll see anything that he's made! but i love that hes a such a bad ass in this movie, complete with guns and everything!
Ellen Page is also in this and even though she hasn't had many movies, since Juno, i think shes wonderful. she brings that "younger" feel to the movie but is also full of brains. she figures out things that others don't even come close to! the other actors are great as well, but these are the 3 that i know well.

in the end, if you like a little suspense, a little drama, a little eye candy(ladies only), and a story line thats a little off the beaten path. this ones for you! i'd suggest going to see it in the theater, but if you have to wait just be sure to get it on BluRay and watch it on a big ass tv!!
back to work kids. have a good one!

"" 3 in the afternoon,... felt like a lifetime... ""
doing: trying really hard to get some work done
listening to: Jango - Matchbox Twenty - radio! i like it!
feeling: weird.....
for the last couple days i've felt like i'm a step behind myself, of where i usually am. things i do every day, like driving my car, seem a little foreign or like i havent done it for awhile. its been a little odd. my bodys been off too. i just feel weird!
i hope that goes away soon and i get back on track.!
so, my brother went to Ireland earlier this year. this is the time when i get to be jealous of my little brother! i got to go to Rome, sure, and it was fabulous and i wouldnt trade it for anything! but i didnt get any opportunities in college to go overseas. he got to go to Greece and Ireland! i was glad that the Ireland trip was a "photography" trip. so they literally just walked around and took pictures the whole time! now i can live his trip through his pictures!
so i happen to have stolen them and now have them on my computer at work... thus making it easy for me to "take a break" from my work and play with some lovely pictures!
i'm trying to get him to pick out some so i can make him an album. but hes slow....:)
but i wanted to show off some of BEN'S beautiful work!

i love it all! and he took tons more! someday i promised myself i'll go there. he actually go to go check out the library in the township that our family is from! pretty sweet!
i should pry work on actual studio stuff...

" its falling! its breaking Sesame Street! "
title: a quote from my sweet little boy who is currently playing on the floor. hes got such an imagination and i could probably just sit and listen to it run wild all day!
doing: uploading some pics/videos from last nights youth group progressive dinner!
feeling: crummy.... i wish the damn weather would just get spring like agian already! i'm sick of the cold and wind! didn't we have enough of this crap this winter?! i just want to take my kid to the park or on a walk or something on my day off!
this last month has been a whirlwind. and its already May 10 and i feel like i havent had a chance to enjoy the fact that it is May already! since i basically lost a week in April i feel like i'm behind on everything i need to get done. for the most part i'm really not, but i feel like i'm scrambling to keep afloat! i really hope that things slow down just a little bit very soon!
we've put our house back on the market. this time we have the home warrenty included! thats a new one. but we're trying it again and hoping that this time someone snaches it up! please please please let someone buy it! we aren't in as big of a hurry to get out now, since its still only the 3 of us, but we would like to be out of it so we can start on finding something new to settle into!
last night we had our last gathering for Youth Group. we had a progressive dinner which went over really well! we all had a great time and it was really a good way to end the year! next Sunday is the Senior Breakfast and Graduation Mass. so now i'm trying to get all my ducks in a row to get ready for that!
this weekend Ben graduated from college! so we all got to go to Dubuque overnight to celebrate with him! sadly, he was sickly.. but he sucked it up! we went out to eat Friday night. played in the pool at the hotel at night. we got to see his Senior show on campus on Saturday morning. then we (Greg, Matt, Ethan, Sara and i) wen to the train exhibit while mom and dad stayed for Bens little presentation!
graduation was at 1 and it was a good ceremony! after that we went to eat a late lunch and headed back to Knoxville! as always, i wish we could have stuck around a little longer... but the weather was crappy too so it might not have been too enjoyable.
i suppose i should get something done this morning. clean some part of my house.....maybe??!

"" all is lost again,... but i'm not giving in ""
doing: grad card mania! i just finished my 5th one for TODAY, now i'm on to something else
listening to: Motion City Soundtrack radio on lastfm.com
feeling: decent
its been a long week. started a week ago today and its finally over. i want this to be my "week from hell" for the year. i'm good with NO MORE!!
i wont bore you with any details (or gross you out i guess) but Tuesday went smooth. the time frames that the nurse told us were just about right on. 1/2 hour for each surgery, recovery, recovery+eating. they fed me toast with peanut butter on it! sweet!
i dozed a little for the rest of the day but i really felt pretty good! i went to a half day of work on wednesday and a full day today. i prefer half days.....! i, for the most part, feel normal again so that's a good thing.
tonight Ethan has his first soccer practice! (hopefully if it doesnt rain like they keep saying it will) hes' SO excited! and Saturday is his first game-which hes also SO excited about! hes on a 3-4year old team so we aren't expecting much. especially from him... he doesnt understand not touching the ball yet! but it should be interesting!
today is also the last day of tax season! its 2:00 right now and i'm sure Matt and the office are getting ready to close shop. they usually stop working around noon... eat snacks and sit around and bullshit. then about 3 they close up and head out to find somewhere to drink... i mean eat.. i mean talk about the year.... who am i kidding? they drink!
matt's been counting down the days so he'll be happy to have his 1 hour lunches back and to get off at 5 instead of 6!
last thing. Hanson is my love! i love everything they do, i love all their music they put out and i love that they know how to still have fun and give back using all this fame they have! they are my love! :)
they just released their newest video. they love the Blues Brothers so this is kind of a tribute to them. its so fun! it made my day better!
okay okay,... if you don't like Hanson you'll think this video is totally lame. but if you can stomache them you might just enjoy yourself!!

"" light up the sky, i'm all out of breath, my walls are closing in...."
thats kind of a downer title... its actually not how i feel. its Give Me A Sign by Breaking Benjamin. ( i love BB!! )
listening to: BB radio on lastfm.com
feeling: tired but good
so its been forever since i wrote. i just havent felt like it. day to day stuff is only interesting once in awhile!
since Christmas we've been fairly low key at the Russell house. Matt's parents left right away to head south. they are snow birds.. and they aren't even 50 yet! Ethans been missing them, and we are down one set of babysitters! but they are having a good time, as always. matts dad has already requested matt to go dig him out numerous baseball cards to send to him. he goes to spring trainings and get his cards signed. his hobby is autographs!
Ethan's almost down to 100% on his potty training! its so wonderful! we still have to remind him to go once in awhile, but for the most part he just goes on his own. most of his naps are taken without a pull-up. nighttime is the only time he still needs one, and sometimes hes still dry in the mornings! sometimes hes soaked through his jammies.... theres no middle ground there! we're quite happy only having to buy 1 package of pull-ups a month now! however,... since we're trying for a baby we'll have to dive right back into diapers and wipes once a week again!
its okay, i'm ready for it... matt might not be though... he'll get there!
and yes, we are trying to get pregnant. its been slow going, we're going on about 7 months right now. which is annoying to me, but i'm trying not to be anxious about it, it'll happen when its supposed to! maybe i'll make my boss happy and have a winter baby(so its not busy season again like last time!)
Matt is full blown into tax season. hes working hard and getting himself caught up before he gets behind. most of his clients drop off their stuff so he's been staying on top of things so far! its only January though! i can tell he enjoys it. of course its late hours and long days, but it ends soon enough. hes a little more upbeat this year, i can tell. i'm not entirely sure why, but its okay with me! as long as he has his Call of Duty to play at the end of the day we'll be good. its his stress reliever!
as for me., its slow season! which i do enjoy! except for the fact that i'm totally behind on wedding albums! i just have no creativity to get me though them. its sad but true! i did work on one basically all day yesterday and got it totally done! done enough to put online for the bride to preview at least. jeff said he'd retouch, so i'm going to let--MAKE--him! i'm going to finish up another one today, its my goal! but i still have 4 more waiting in line.... ugh!
Convention is coming up-in 8 days. eek! i'm looking forward to it, i think. jeff and i are in charge of Hospitality again (like at Fall Seminar) so we've been working on getting our time table set up for the weekend. getting food and beer and whatnot all together at the right time is hard. especially since we are NOT organized people. but this is our last one, thank goodness! next year he'll be in charge of something else, something less time consuming(hopefully)
he sent off our competition prints yesterday. i worked harder on mine than he did on his this year.... but neither of us worked as hard as we should have. if i get just 1 merit out of the 4 prints i'll be happy!
the weather is crappy.... its this time of year that makes me wish i was strong enough to move away--far away where its warm all year round! however, i'm not that strong. unless we had a true set in stone reason to go, i couldnt. i'm too close to my parents and my friends. my job and my boss can't be duplicated anywhere! so we're here in Iowa.... pry forever. the one thing i said i'd never do was to live in Knoxville forever... and look at me now. things never work out like you plan them to. such is life!
well, better get to work on that album......
have a good one!

"" and we can have forever.... and we can love forever....""
well... i'm awake.
i haven't had much to write since NCYC... because most of it has been disappointing.
the Breaking Benjamin concert that was on the 8th was the one thing i've been totally pumped about for months! and of course... thats the night that we got crazy wind and snow. so needless to say, for our own safety, we didnt drive to DM. however, they had the concert anyways. so, we're out $100 and did not get to go see Breaking Benjamin. Lazer said they didnt cancel because of the band's tour and things.... i understand that... but, i also dont. i wont start cause it'll be a rant. Lazer is putting together something for those of us who have unused tickets in the next couple weeks. i dont know what it'll be, and i hope we arent busy that night... but i am glad that they realized they should do something for the people who couldnt make it. it wont be the same as BB in concert... but at least we'll get something for our money.
**a few days later**
yeah, its taken me multiple days to write one post.... i heard about the Lazer "special thing" for those of us that still have unused BB tix. the Hairball is coming to DM soon, which is a complilation of 80s rockbands. if we go TO the Lazer studio during business hours and present our BB tix we can BUY tickets for the Hairball for $10 instead of $10(normal price).
now i want to say that i didnt expect a full refund or anything.. but i did expect something along the same lines as Breaking Benjamin. if you've ever heard BB you know that they are not even close to 80s rock. and also, while i am a girl who listens to KGGO(Classic Rock that Rocks) i do NOT want to end up spending $120 (BB tix + discount hairball tix) to go see some group of knock off 80s rockers...... so while the DJ "really really thinks this is a great deal!" i will have to dis-agree.
i was quite upset and said some choice words to the radio when i heard this. so, my glimmer of hope is out and i'm back to sad that i missed one of my favorite bands and am out $100......
after all of that........
the week of Christmas has begun. we always have troubles around these holidays trying to visit all of our family in the alotted week. Matt and i always fight-i wont deny it. and it really makes the season un-enjoyable.
we did go to my Grandma Croghans Saturday/Sunday for Christmas. i was really looking forward to this trip because i'd missed out on Thanksgiving there this year. most of my family was there, crammed into Grandma's kitchen/living room. it never used to be a problem until all the boys in our family started growing to 6 feet tall!! it was chaos!! but it was exactly how i've always remembered it, so it was perfect. i got to visit with my Grandma and aunts and uncles. we talked about everything from kids tv shows to politics to how to save the world from global warming! :) we're diverse!! hehe!
Sunday afternoon we packed up again and headed home. we were at our house for exactly 15 minutes and then headed off to Pella to Matts Grandparents. we had dinner and more family time there. Grandma Darlene always makes 3 or 4 great soups!
we got home just in time for Ethan to head to bed. and after 3 meltdowns and about 10 minutes of crying, he was alseep! needless to say, this week has only just begun.
today i have to go finish my Christmas shopping/wrapping. yes, i said finish! i'm late and i know it!
other than the Christmas rush and the disappointing concert... work has been good. we've been quite busy this month. we always set our cut-off for Christmas orders at December 4th. of course we always always get people calling a week later that just HAVE to have their stuff by Christmas. luckily our lab is quick like a cat this time of year, so as of last Thursday my order bin was EMPTY!!! its a good feeling to look over and see nothing pressing that i have to finish! now my biggest problem is all the wedding albums i have to create... i dont think it'll be too bad... i just have to sit down and do it! i'm planning to bring a few of them home on my laptop and hopefully knock them out in a night or two!
i guess i should start my day. i have alot planned and better just get it all started. then maybe this afternoon i can take a nap!! :)
i haven't had much to write since NCYC... because most of it has been disappointing.
the Breaking Benjamin concert that was on the 8th was the one thing i've been totally pumped about for months! and of course... thats the night that we got crazy wind and snow. so needless to say, for our own safety, we didnt drive to DM. however, they had the concert anyways. so, we're out $100 and did not get to go see Breaking Benjamin.

""r'memer all that stuff i taught you yesterday.....""
doing: nothing at all....
listening to: Friends on tv
feeling: uneasy.
its sunday. the sunday after our towns little venture that is known as Nationals. it was SUPPOSED to be the day us Knoxvillians got to relax, sadly, the races got rained out last night so they are running the B and A mains tonight at 7. this means that not everyone has vacated our town. some people are sticking around for the races tonight. not too bad i guess. that just means that the people with stands set up had one more day to opt to stay open.
we did a good job at celebrating the last night of Natty's last night in our garage. i didn't get to bed until close to 1 and am regretting it now. it was an interesting night with my friends to say the least. we've hung out alot over the years, but we've never actually gotten on each others nerves the way we did last night. again... interesting. however-when i got mad and yelled (i might have yelled alot last night..) they all seemed to just stop and collect themselves. makes me feel good because it just reaffermed the fact that they really do respect me enough to listen when i say "shut up or go home!!"
they all chose to shut up and we finished the night on a good note! we had fun!
i've been trying really hard to get a few bucks to go on a bit of a shopping spree for myself lately. i put my time in by 1. cleaning out my closet and drawers... and shoes (*tear*), to show Matt that i actually DO need some new clothes. and 2. getting a second job. a second job that will, in another month or so, take up most of the rest of my spare time and demand probably more than i can handle. however-i do have faith that i can do it and that i will have enough help around me to keep me level headed. anyhow-shopping. i really do think that i deserve--DESERVE--to shop a little for myself! i've been patient in waiting until matt would tell me that we do actually have a couple hundered extra so that i could partake in this adventure... but he hasnt yet. so i've started hounding him about it. he's not happy but i think he really does want to give it to me. (matthew, if you do read this, i'm going to keep hounding you... so stop making that face whenever i mention it and just let me go for cryinoutloud!!!!) ((LOVE YOU))
today i wanted to run to Target and see if i could find a few things, but i was lazy-then i really wanted to go-then i didnt really want to go alone.... then i was lazy again. so i changed back into my jammies and have been sitting on the couch for most of the day! oh well! i also tried to online shop, but its just not the same!
yesterday Jeff and i hung some wallpaper at the studio.... hanging wallpaper SUCKS! especially since we picked a design with a bunch of circles on it that obviously has to be lined up exactly! we ended up doing a pretty darn good job and it looks great!!! i'm excited to have our actual sign up so our "reception wall" will be complete!! its taken a long time, but we're finally getting the studio close to being finished!! open house coming soon!
Little E just woke up so were going to take a little walk!

"when life gives you lemons....
.... just shut up and eat the damn lemons!"
feeling: crazy! my brain is working on overdrive today
listening to: nothing.. its too early to relax--also i have no idea what i want to listen to!
a couple things have been the main focus of my brain activity over the last few days: choices is the main one.
Sunday/Monday night i was up about every hour wide awake. and when i'm wide awake my brian kicks into overdrive-which i hate-and for some reason i started to think about choices. everybody has choices every day, from what to eat for lunch to how much do i really really need those $200 shoes. some people get off easy and both of those choices are made in a split second. for some people the choices are harder like, what can we live without foodwise for another week. how soon do i really need to go to the doctor for this cold or how much longer can my kid wear those pants before they are simply rags.
i was thinking about the choices i've made in my life that have brought me to this exact moment. the choice that Matt would be the only man i'd ever need for the rest of my life. this brought me to hearache when we lost our first baby, and then to utter joy when Ethan was born! this brings me headaches when we fight about stupid things, and happiness when he does little things like take out the garbage and thank me for making dinner.
the choice we made to buy a house. not becuase we needed one by any means, but because we felt we were at the point where we really wanted to be "adult" homeowners! this choice brings us to now when we can not sell our house and were just wasting money on something we really dislike living in.
when i think back to all our smaller and bigger choices i really don't think that i would do anything differently. maybe if i'd known that we'd be right here, wanting to grow our family but really not having any room for it, i might have stayed living in an apartment for a couple years. just to get some debt under control and all that good jazz. but then again, at that point we didn't care. we wanted a house and we wanted this house! our original plan was to only stay for a year or two and then look for something else. never happens how you plan it.
so then i look at the people around me and the choices they've made. i wonder if they look back and think- i really wish id done that differently- for the most part i think they'd say no. for some stuff i'm sure it would be different. thought through more or better, but not the original choice that was made.
sometimes the choices you make just get you in a big fat pickle. but theres always another choice that will get you out. we made the choice to get into a debt relief program. we searched and asked some friends and finally found one that is working wonderfully for us! we're going to be 100% free of our credit card debt in, well, now 3 more years! hopefully less. i wish we'd gotten into that way earlier, but better late than never.
other times the choices you make bring you more happieness than you might have thought possible. Ethan is the center of our lives and i don't regret one decision that brough him to us! now we're trying for another one.... (maybe not another one EXACTLY like Ethan.... we might pull our hair out!) but, if we get a carbon copy then we'll be just as happy!!
i think its a natural strive that we all make good choices in our lives. and probably at the time we all think that they are the best possible choice for us. of course nobody is perfect and we all end up thinking -what the F?!- at one point or another! i've had plenty of those, but the good always outweighs the bad!
my choice of the day happened when i was driving to work. i followed a guy into town and his liscense plate said BATSRUS -- Bats R Us -- awesome right!? how this got me to this decision i don't really know. but my next tattoo is going to be the Aerosmith logo on the top of my right foot. yup, have the foot picked out and all! Jeff is still bagging on my wrist tattoo... so i have to pick something else for the time being! i love tattoos.... its an addiction that i'm okay with! just have to save up some cash now! :) woot woot!
now... i must make the choice to work!!

" why don't you go where fashion sitz.... puttin on the ritz!
doing: workety work work!
listening to: my ipod!! i got to update it FINALLY!!
feeling: tired and hungry and super lazy
things are finally starting to get back to normal. between the studio move and all my personal life stuff thats been going on i've just felt like i've been running in a hamster wheel! at work i'm actually starting to make progress! i've been working like MAD, but never actually getting things done! i've made good progress on my list of wedding albums! i'm planning to finish up at least 2 today and possibly at least design another! sounds like a tall order.. but i think i can do it!
we went to visit Panama this past weekend for their 125th Celebration! it was WILD! Panama is a town about the size of Bussey-okay, maybe a tad bigger... but not too much. and when we rolled in about 9:30 Saturday night the town was about the size of Knoxville! there were TONS of people there!! there was a carnival with games and stuff, there was a beer garden (duh-Catholic town), and there was a band! the band played until 2am! and they were pretty good!! we sat at my Grandma's house and we could hear everything perfectly!
my cousins from Colorado were there, which was awesome!! i havent seen some of them for years! i sat and talked with Elissa until about 2am! it was great! we caught up on so much and it was just SO nice to talk!! i wanted to catch up with Megan too, but shes preggo.. so she went to bed!! Elissa is getting married in August so i'm hoping that i'll have time to talk with everyone else at the wedding! i wish we all lived closer, or at least got together more! i've always wanted that closer relationship with my cousins-and i do have it with some of them-but to have it with more would just be better!!
Ethan has been great lately. other than the terrible two-s that show up once in awhile... he's been great. we started potty-training a week ago from saturday and he's starting to get the hang of it! he actually asks to sit on his potty-seat now! i think he knows when he goes in his diaper and then asks... so we're getting closer! he does good about just sitting and watching a movie... so he'll eventually go while hes sitting there! its just so great to watch him grow up like that! i am really sad that he'll (hopefully) soon be out of diapers, but i'll be so happy to get to buy him big boy undies!! he's also starting to sleep in HIS bed at night. which makes matt and i super excited!! its hard enough for us to sleep in bed together, makes it worse with a little boy in between us!
so he got a special treat this morning (cars) for sleeping in his bed for almost a whole week!
other than that life has been calming down. i've been prone to some awesome migraines the last few days... so i'm ready to get rid of those too.
ah well....
must work more!
have a good one!

"so kiss me hard because its the last time that i'll let you..."
doing: working
listening to: Breaking Benjamin Pandora Radio
feeling: good!
i've been MIA for awhile, and for good reason. i've been SO busy with work that its not even funny! i've made over 40 Christmas Cards this year not to mention working on orders and albums and all that other stuff! its been a bit crazy around here! but finally this week i feel like we are caught up! i can breath again!!!
so whats been happening? Thanksgiving was a couple weeks ago and it was wonderful! we went to my in-laws for lunch and i think i went back 3 times to get just a little more of soemthing! it was good to just sit and relax and EAT! around 5 or 6 we finally left (yeah, we hang out with our parents!) and we went over to MY parents house! my aunt and uncle and cousin were up from MO so i wanted to have some time with them! Ethan was elated that both of his uncles were home AND cousin Eric! he wouldn't stop talking about them! he actually still asks if Eric is at my parents house!
after Thanksgiving its just been a whirlwind of days. i can't even remember half of the things that happened..... i might need to start taking that herb that helps you remember things.... my short term memory is shot. all the days run together!
today is 2 weeks until Christmas and i'm NOT ready for it! i still have presents to get in order and cards to address and send. and treats to make!! i need a baking day! i'd really enjoy that! too much to do... too much to remember!!! aahhh!!!
tomorrow night we have our Designer Images holiday party! we're going to eat at Court Avenue Brewery, go ice skating(yeah that'll be funny), and then go hang out at IN Play, or All Play, whatever it is!
Saturday night is the Donald W Croghan holiday party! we are going to eat steak, at Johnny's i think. it'll be good whereever we go! and then i'm not sure what were going to do. we talked about the dueling piano bar, but we might just end up at the mall for cheesecake or ice cream! my daddy likes his sweets, and i do not disagree with him!!
Sunday i will hopefully get to relax a bit! Jess and i are planning to go see Twilight!!! YYEEAAAYY! Kville matinee is $3! best price ever! i'm excited to see it again!
i thought i had a lot more to write, but i guess i don't. llaammee!!
OH, i took pictures of Shannon when she was home for Thanksgiving! I posted some of them on my facebook Designer Images page! they turned out great! (i hope you like them Shan! and i promise i'll get them online for you!!)
have a good weekend everyone! stay warm!!

"the end will be much quicker than the beginning..."

WONDERFUL news about today is that Twilight comes out today!! i've been looking forward to this movie for MONTHS! i won't get to go tonight.. but hopefully this weekend i'll be able to find time!!!
also, the new Blackberry Storm was released today! it looks SSOO wonderful, but i'm not quite ready to give up my current Blackberry.. i love it too much!
at: work
doing: making Christmas Cards... just assume from now on that's what i'm doing!
listening to: The Damnwells Pandora radio (i LOVE The Damnwells!!)
feeling: sick and tired and ready to get some work DONE!
its been awhile! i've had a lot going on and nothing going on at the same time. its November... well, almost December! how did that happen!? i've been making Christmas Cards like its my lifeline for the last few weeks. i've also been taking work home to try to get myself caught up. its not working. and now its crunch time-people are going to expect things back before Christmas... and i'm just not sure that we'll be able to deliver! people will live, i'm pretty sure of it. i just don't enjoy the phone calls!
other than work being overwhelming.... my family is doing well! we've all 3 had this cough/runny nose thing thats going around. Ethan's over his now which is GREAT! he's been sleeping in until almost 8 every morning this week! its really nice! i can actually get ready almost completley before he wakes up! i hope he keeps it up too! hes still rotten as can be and sweet as sugar all at the same time! he's started saying "i love you" when i say it to him! melts my heart every time! and he's gotten into giving kisses on owies too! he still thinks that all my freckles are owies.. that just means more kisses for me!! :)
matt is slowly getting himself ready for tax season. he didn't get enrolled for classes again this semester, which is sort of okay. but all three of the classes that he needs to finish his degree are offered next term! so he's ready for that, and i know he's ready to be done with school!! now his biggest decision is wether to go on and get his CPA or to just stay with an accounting degree. he talkes about doing both so we'll just have to see how it goes. i think he's still enjoying his job! he hasn't talked about quitting for awhile so that's a good sign!
as for the rest of general life its going okay. we shot our last wedding last Saturday! yeay for free Saturdays! so i'll get to go help with Jess' house a bit more. of course, its almost all done... but i hear they are painting this week and that happens to be the ONLY thing that i'm decent at! hopefully i'll get in there for a couple hours tomorrow morning! we see Roby just about every night. he's pretty much a constant at our house, which i have no problem with at all! he and matt have been getting free $1 movies at FamVid for the last couple weeks, so we've been watching movies almost every night! its fun!!
well, i have to start thinking about lunch. i'm not hungry at all for what i brought... wish i had crackers to eat with it-its brown soup FYI (thats dinty moore beef stew) but i suppose i should eat soemthing or i wont get anything but wheat thins.
have a good weekend all!
