doing: just trying to decide what to work on first

feeling: SO much better

listening to: silence, beautiful beautiful silence!

this morning is the first morning in over a week that i've eaten breakfast without feeling crazy with pain! my throat is FINALLY feeling better and i couldn't be happier!! i've been to the point of tears in the last week because its hurt so bad! my mom says i'm just a baby when it comes to my throat hurting, but its been about an 8 on a scale of 1-10! i can hardly eat dinner because it just hurts to swallow! so finally this medicine is doing its job and i'll be able to be a-OK for the weekend!!

this weekend! Labor Day weekend! its not longer for me, but for everyone else it will be! Saturday is the FIRST Iowa Football game of the season!! yipppeeee!! i'm an Iowa fan, first, but this year i'm going to be an Appilation State fan as well!! they could go all the way! i think that Iowa State won their game last night too! we kept missing the actual game and getting the commercials, but the part that i did see they were winning! go Iowa teams!

we will have everyone over for the game Saturday. we, hopefully, wont have issues with mediacom carrying the games this year like last year. although, we only didnt get like 2 games, so it wasnt bad at all! then on Saturday night we are taking Greggy out for DRINKS! him and Ashley broke up this past week and as a big sister i feel its my duty to take him to the bar for shots...... what are big sisters for?! that and i KNOW that he drinks now, like a fish actually, so hes got no excuse to not come out with me! so i hope that we'll have some fun for a couple hours! the boys are all mad because you can't smoke in the bars anymore so they don't think its worth it to go.... but i don't mind one bit!! i wont stink like stale smoke when i get home!

sunday and monday we don't have anything planned. we'll pry grill on monday because that's just usually what we do! and monday night is the SEASON PREMIER of One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl!!!!!!! i'm so SO excited for them! they just re-played the finallies last week so that gets you all excited again for the new ones to start up! and the final season of ER is on this year! it looks promising, as it always does in the commercials. but Dr. Carter is back!! hes a hottie! and the finally was great! so i really have high hopes!

well its almost 10, i suppose i should start working on something!
have a great weekend!

do you know that i cry... and its not the good kind

doing: looking for something to make for dinner. nnneeww recipe time!!!

listening to: that stupid popper toy that Ethan is pushing around, the Food Network and parts of The Lion King.

feeling: like crap!!! i've been sick since Thursday and its getting OLD!

as you know we've started to babysit for Brigettes daughter Reese. five days a week from 3:30ish to midnight. Brigette works the night shift at 3M. Reese is about 4 months older than Ethan but they have the same thought roller coaster going on. its always "MY" toy and if they want it they'll take it! so we're, of course, working extra hard on the whole "sharing" thing.

naturally its hard! anything to do with two toddlers is hard! and it also makes me have a new appreciation for my babysitters!! because i have two and i go crazy, but they have 5 or 6 and make it through 8-10 hours a day 5 days a week!!

i just picked up my house and once Reese walks in its like they go into super destructive toddler mode. they are at each other constantly and do things that they normally wouldn't do if they were alone..... because they KNOW its naughty!!

matt and i have been talking for quite awhile about starting to try again, but we're both a little unsure about when we want to start. my boss gave me a 3 month window... and thats long gone! of course i'd like to be able to plan the perfect time to have another baby, when work isnt busy and when we dont have a million things going on at home... but you can't. so i just don't think we're going to worry about it! i would, however, not really mind having our second around a month or so of when we had Ethan.... cause then-if its a boy- he'll fit Ethans old clothes!!! sneaky!! :)

either way, i'm ready. if it were to happen anytime, unplanned, i'd be okay. but we are trying to have some sort of a plan! we'll see! i'm just ready for another itty bitty! i love the clothes, the blankies, the bottles, the baths, even the car seat! i just loves babies! my worry now is what am i going to do once the second one is grown up! i'm not having another one!! uhm... friends... that means YOU will have to have babies so i can get all that out of my system! ( i buy good presents/clothes too!! )

now i think i have to make a shopping list, once the guys get here i have to run to the store so we can eat dinner!

"standing from here, you wouldn't say so if you were me.."

doing: just woke up and i wanted to blog a bit

listening to: matthew's snores and the oddly loud hum of my computer.

feeling: a bit sick still, but much better

today is saturday and i got to SLEEP IN! okay okay, its only 8:30 so its not really considered sleeping in in most peoples eyes. but to me its like a dream! yeserday was matthew and my's FIVE year anniversary! crazy right?! so his parents kept ethan over night so we could go out and celebrate!

backtrack. this week has been so long! first ethan was sick with a fever and a runny nose. he got over that on wednesday and then matt got sick. he stayed home for 2 days from work, went to the doctor on thursday and found out he had a deep sinus infection. fun. then it was my turn, i woke up wednesday night and was so cold i was shivering! i made it to work for about 2.5 hours and then i had to go back home! friday i went to the doctor because my throat had started to hurt so bad! i thought i had strep, but it ended up being just a virus. so i stayed home friday and tried desperatley to feel better so we could go out!

we went out to eat at Biaggis, our favorite place to go and celebrate, and it was fabulous!! as it always is! i had wanted to go wine tasting at the new Jasper Winery location in Des Moines, but since we both didn't feel all that great we decided dinner was enough for one night. we did, however, go and walk through Old Navy and BB&Beyond. we bought ourselves a new set of wooden spoons for presents!

in the "contemorary" wedding gift list, for 5 years you are supposed to buy wood as a present. hence the wooden spoons.

after the shopping we came back home and watched some tv. i popped some tylenol PM and i was out! we're totally romantic in know, but what can ya do!?

this week has given me a couple new things to think about. my little brother, greg, has been dating ashley flattery for quite awhile now. i think they'd said it'd be five years soon. ashley's been in equador for the summer for her study abroad program and she just recently called and broke it off with greg. he's been pretty heartbroken and i feel awful for him! but, i'm hoping that he'll be able to live up the college life a little more now, they both will i think, because they won't have someone else to worry about. and, if its meant to be then they'll find each other again down the line. this got me thinking a bit about matt and i. we are high school sweet hearts, we've been together since our sophmore year! not to make anyone feel old but that was like 10 years ago! how we managed to make it work out i'll never know! but we did, and now we've celebrated our five years of being married! i plan on celebrating many many more and i couldn't be happier! i guess it just takes some people longer to find the one that they are meant to be with, and some people get lucky and find that someone back in high school-when they aren't even thinking long term!

now to switch over totally, we had another open house on thrusday night! betty and mike cunningham are our realtors and they are great! betty said that there were a bunch of people that came through!!! we even had one guy come through and then came back through AGAIN last night! thats a good sign!!! theres also a crazy lady that has been through and told us she was interested and also another couple that had been interested before. three people!!?? sweett!! we've done the price reduction thing, which we really didn't want to, but we want to sell more than anything! now we are just crossing our fingers that someone will put an offer down! crazy lady said that she'd want us out within two months. NO PROBLEM! talk about a whirl wind of excitement and stress! but i'd be happy happy happy to do it!!

its time for me to start my morning with waffles! they sound so good! buscits sound good too, but i dont have the right stuff for those. waffles it is! oh and bacon!!! mmm!!! :)

"one more years come and gone.... and nothing had changed at all..."

doing: guess.....
listening to: Bethany Joy Lenz/Galeotti ( i love her!! )
feeling: a sudden burst of energy!

its 4:16 and i'm working. always working. i actually need to be working on putting crap on my laptop so i can work at home this weekend! but it might not happen,... sorry Jeff! :) i'm working on getting some Senior books sent to the lab before i head out for the night!

Asheley has been our "intern" this summer and shes ROCKED! shes had some messups, but who doesn't right? but she has been SO great about editing/pretouching/printing our appointments!! i really dont have to do anything! and i honestly don't know about anything!! Jeff asks me all the time and i'm like.., "i dont know!"
but sadly all good things much come to an end. Asheley is coming in to work next Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and then shes off to school at UNI! good for her, bad for us!! we are currently looking for an inturn from Central, but no luck just yet. for me this means that i have to take over all work once again. i've enjoyed not having to answer the phones or deal with editing and things like that. bummer.....

our rockin computer guy just got us back a revamped computer! he made it super RAM filled and some other stuff so it'll run smooth as silk(until Jeff and i F it up... we usually do.) anyways, we are going to set that up in the office (we'll now have 5 computers and 6 screens when we have our laptops up) sounds like alot, but its really not quite enough just yet!! i have 2 screens on my computer so i can spread out my tools when i'm working in PhotoShop. i have a laptop to send orders to the lap so i don't bog down my computer. Jeff has the same, he works on his main computer and then uses his laptop for another task or lab stuff. and then our new computer will be set up to specifically run our editing program. that program is pretty big and uses a lot of memory at one time, so we will have one computer to run it so we wont slow down our others!

okay, it sounds like overkill... and it may be. but we'll be happy with it! hopefully we can run a little more efficiently!

now its 4:30, i should load up my laptop so i can work this weekend..... lame.

tonight we are going out to the lake to take a family picture! my mom decided that we needed a new one for Christmas cards on oohhh monday! so here we are! suprisinly we all got together a time to do it! odd for us. but i think it will be fun! and then--BOYS--we won't have to do another one later!!!!

have a great weekend!!

wonder what it'll be next

doing: work work work!
feeling: a headache and a little down for some reason.
listening to: my ipod in about 2 seconds. ah yes, "I Am" by Hanson is the first on the list!

so as i'm working away, retouching endless orders and collages, an image floats into my brain. this image is of the hallway in East Elementary and i'm walking out of the lunch room to my locker. and nothing seemes more importatnt to me than getting my coat as fast as i can to walk out to recess with my friends.

back to reality. i dont need a coat right now!!!

when did those feelings stop? when was the most important things shifted? was it Junior High(yes, some of us did go to JUNIOR high!) when it was so important to simply look cool standing in line for milk at lunch. or looking cool in front of that one specific guy or girl? or was it High School when you still had to look and act cool, but grades were getting up there? or getting that paper in just at the right time? or making sure you write your paper so Mr. Stultz won't throw it back in your face!? or then again, it could have been college when you had to pull an all night cram session because if you failed one more test.......!

could your most important thing shift from day to day? or do you just make a list in your head and at the end of the day that importance is still the same as it was when you woke up?

i'm thinking that theres always something that comes along that ends up being more important. no matter how old you get, theres always something. i think you just have to decide what you want to be the most important. is it school? is it your boyfriend or girlfriend? or is is your job, the job that you've wanted forever?! (or did those cram sessions in school so you could be creditable at it!) it could be your family, your spouse, your children! whatever it is and whenever it comes around in your life it will be the most important thing to you! at least until something else comes along and edges it out.

for me, at this point in my life, the most important thing is my family. Matt and Ethan won't come second to anything for me! i have my lists. Lord knows i NEED my lists! my computer is covered in post-its! its awful! but at the end of the day they are #1 on my list!

who is the most important person in your life? your spouse? your kids? your boy/girlfriend?
what is the most important thing in your life? your job? your home? your schooling? your social life?
and finally, how do you balance all of those things to make you a well rounded person?

its been a long week!

Nationals is finally over. it takes about a full week to get everyone here in town, and Sunday morning by 9:30 everyone is gone! hard to believe since everyone pry stays up until 2 or 3 am the night before!

we had a camper in our yard this year. my friend Justin from long ago (we actually met at the races in high school!) him and his parents and uncle stayed on our little cement slab. they were a blast! they brought a little pool and set it up. it was really nice to cool off in after a hot afternoon! and it was the "spa" after the races - clothing optional, no pointing and laughing and flash photography not recommended. we didn't get to try that one out, but i hear it was open all night!

the week was a bit of a whirlwind, but good all the same! we got to eat some of the good food from the stands. walk around... and also stay away from.. all the extra people! There was plenty of drunkenness and grilling, the weather was wonderful and the races were exciting! we had our party night on friday. we played beer pong until late. the races let out and everyone else went under the grandstands and matt and i went to bed. well... matt had been there for awhile at that point, but i went cause i was tired!

now, back to reality.

i'm hoping to talk matt into going to the State Fair one night this week. since you get in half price after 5 i figured that would benifit us! and i think that i'll be really heartbroken if i don't get to go this year! Nationals food just wasn't up to par as it has been in the past and this couple weeks of great food is what i really look forward to!! so hopefully we'll get to do that, plus Ethan will love the fair even more this year! animals and tractors are his dream!

back in the reality thing-i have laundry to do. *sigh*

one exciting thing. matt woke me up at 12:30 last night because he kept hearing sirins and seeing lights. we went outside and a house down the street from us was totally engulfed in flames! it was SO wild! there were police and fire trucks everywhere! we went back to sleep but i think they had just started getting water on it when we went to look. the house is a complete loss too. you can see inside and everything is just black! they said on the news that there was an older man pulled out before the fire fighters got there, but other than that i dont think there was anyone else in the house. thats a good thing.

okay, laundry for real!!!

"" i'm only human, and thats my saving grace...""

doing: work. what else??
feeling: tired! i need an afternoon nap in the worst way!!
listening to: Nickelback..... its on the radio, NOT my choice! my laptop wont connect to the network though so I couldnt get to my Pandora!!

i recently went on a downloading spree for new music. i was in desperate need of it! and since i usually listen to the classic rock station in my car i'm not really up on the newest music!! yeah yeah, i live in the past.. whatever! i just can't handle 107.5 or 102.5 for long. its all the same and its all rap/hip hop whatever that should only be played repeatedly in the clubs!
anyhow, my downloading spree got me a few new artists that i'm loving! but my favorite by far is Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley on One Tree Hill). shes my girl! i love all of her stuff! so my ipod has been on constant BJG for the last couple days!!

if you haven't already heard, Nationals are in town. we welcome about 30,000 more people that we need into our town for 4 days of fried food, beer and more dirt and races than you can handle! the bonus this year is that the weather has been WONDERFUL!! after last years disappointment of rain-outs i didn't think anyone would even come back! the bad news is there isnt a Rotary tent this year. pie and ice cream is the ONLY reason i look forward to this crazy week... and its not there this year. i almost cried when matt told me. sure, there is still good food... but not home-made rasberry pie, or fantastic lemonade... or turkey breast sands! *crying*

on the work front, this week has really gone by quickly. i've gotten a few major things finished and now i'm back to working on not-all-that-important stuff. id really like to do some cleaning of the studio, but i just havent gotten the motivation just yet. maybe in an hour.... or tomorrow....

time to get back to it.
enjoy the weather while it lasts!! :)

teddy grahams!

doing: eating the best snack ever! chocolate teddy grahams!
feeling: a headache. its nasty
listening to: Bethany Joy Galeotti(Lenz)

i'm just sitting here at work, working on a couple engagement albums. my headache is really hindering my ability to be creative, but i think i'm managing okay.

this weekend was WONDERFUL! pry the best one i've had in quite awhile! i had almost zero stress! Ethan was so so good! and i actually had things to do that i wanted to do(not just laundry..)

my new obsession, other than new music and teddy grahams, is a video game. Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix for xbox. it sounds lame, but those are the kinds of games! they aren't too hard and i dont have to run around shooting people to win! i had to take it back to fam-vid. late fees are killer! but i'm going to have to go to game stop and pick one up for myself one of these days! i played for 3 days and only have about 25% of the game "discovered" thats a long ways from 100%!!

tonight i'm going with Ann to a Chocolate Party!! thats right... chocolate!! i'm excited because what better party could there possibly be!!?? my face might break out., but thats the price you pay for chocolate!!

i'm ready to head home, yeay for 5:00!!
